Intelligent Design is a modern-day movement which attempts to scientifically prove, through various theories, the idea that the universe was created by an intelligent being, namely God. This blog may highlight some common areas of interest with the ID movement but it does not attempt the same goal. In fact it starts from the belief that God exists without much attempt to prove it. This blog is written by a Christian who happens to be a graphic designer. I believe in God and I believe He designed the universe. And in light of these beliefs, I feel the desire to explore the ways in which my profession intersects with my faith and the ways my faith informs and inspires my profession.
I hope to explore topics such as the principles of design found in creation, nature-inspired color pallets, mystical mathematics as applied to graphic design, the role of a designer, divine design processes, natural patterns, elegance and simplicity.
I plan to grapple with such questions as:
What does the Bible have to say about design and God's role as The Designer?
What does the natural world tell us about simplicity and sustainability in design?
How can I apply new spiritual understandings to my work as a graphic designer?
How can I become more like The Designer in my everyday work as a designer?
Throughout the process of building this forum I hope to improve my own understanding of the Christian faith and improve my skills and insight in the arena of graphic design. In short I hope to learn more about intelligent design.
